This obviously didn’t go down well with Richard who I later noticed was drunk to the stupor. We had already moved past major highways and we were driving along a road with bushes on our sides and Richards, who was obviously pissed from the last statement from his girlfriend, halted the car in the middle of the road.
Before we girls could finish wondering what he was up to, Richards was already by the other side of the car, dragging down Funmi from his car by the bush!
I was speechless. I could not say a word! What came to my mind like a flash was already happening right in front of me! Funmi was still forming. She was like “ehn, what’s wrong with you? Do you want to leave us in this bush? I trust you!”
Before I could pretend as if I was not part of the drama happening right in front of me, Richard looked at me at the back side and didn’t utter a word before I knew I had to go down. I stood beside Funmi as she ranted, while her boyfriend who she thought could not leave us in the jungle, zoomed off. He was dead drunk, his driving too was abnormal.
I stood at the side of the road, watched the jeep’s rear light disappear into the dark, until I could not catch a glimpse of it anymore.
We didn’t stand too long when we heard a whistle blowing. At first, it sounded like that of a vigilante but who could have been watching over a bush?
An impending danger dawned on us when we heard some footsteps alongside the whistle, with incoherent incantations. It was like my mind and that of Funmi had a pep talk. We ran into the bush together at once. As minutes went by, we went further into the bush but Funmi was tired and it seemed the incantations got louder.
As I tried to help Funmi up, so we could proceed, my eyes stumbled on an area in the bush which had some movements. I motioned to my friend to keep mute. As I looked closely, there in front of me was a man carrying out what looked like a ritual, he was stark naked, with a bowl of calabash sitting carefully on his two palms!
Another aged man was far behind him, holding a branch of plant, saying some words I had only heard in the Nigerian make-believe movie industry. I was shocked! My head became twice its normal size…(so I felt).
They went their way while we prayed for morning sun to come out as quickly as possible before our eyes behold another abomination. I’m not sure I will go out with anyone ever again at midnight.

Nail biting may actually be harmful to you beyond the emotional effects. For instance…
1. Disease-Causing Bacteria
Your nails are an ideal location for bacteria to thrive, and that includes potentially pathogenic bacteria like Salmonella and E. coli (which would love to call the underside of your nail tips home).
As you bite your nails, those bacteria easily transfer into your mouth and the rest of your body, where they may lead to infections. Your fingernails may actually be twice as dirty as your fingers,2 considering they’re difficult to keep clean, making this a prime point of transfer for infectious organisms.
Although I’m not aware of any research on this, it’s often suggested (anecdotally) that people who bite their nails have stronger immune systems, and therefore get sick less often, than those who do not.
One potential explanation for this is that nail biting may help introduce pathogens from your environment to your immune system, helping it to learn and build defenses, similar to what occurs when people eat their boogers.
2. Nail Infections
Nail biters are susceptible to paronychia, a skin infection that occurs around your nails. As you chew your nails, bacteria, yeast, and other microorganisms can enter through tiny tears or abrasions, leading to swelling, redness, and pus around your nail.
This painful condition may have to be drained surgically. Bacterial infections caused by nail biting are actually one of the most common nail problems, according to the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD).3
3. Warts Due to HPV Infections
Warts on your fingers caused by human papillomavirus, or HPV, are common among chronic nail biters. (Here I’m referring to the types of HPV that cause warts on your hands, as opposed to those that lead to private part warts and, rarely, cervical cancer.) These warts can easily spread to your mouth and lips as you bite your nails.
4. Dental Problems
Nail biting can interfere with proper dental occlusion, or the manner in which your upper and lower teeth come together when you close your mouth.
Your teeth may shift out of their proper position, become misshapen, wear down prematurely, and become weakened if you bite your nails over time. The Academy of General Dentistry estimates that frequent nail biters may rack up $4,000 in additional dental bills over the course of their lifetime.4
5. Impaired Quality of Life
A study published this year found that people who chronically bite their nails report significantly higher quality of life impairment than those who do not.5
The level of impairment rises with time spent on nail biting, the number of involved fingernails and those who report visible nail abnormalities. Tension when trying to resist nail biting, suffering due to nail biting or nail-eating behavior also negatively influenced quality of life.

Why did it take you five years to release your second album?
I was in Mo’Hits, the company dissolved in 2011. I was left alone to choose and I moved with Don Jazzy without a contract, just because of love. As an artiste, I felt it was okay to go with a producer. We started working on the album but we didn’t agree on contract, so I had to move on. And that means I had to start all over again, writing new songs and get new producers. That’s why it took this long.
Why did you title the album Wanted? Has anyone declared you wanted?
I have been dropping singles but it wasn’t just enough, people have been asking for my album. This is why I titled it ‘Wanted’. This album cuts across all demographics. I feel this album is my own creativity and personal growth. I have been planning to work with Tuface, and on this alBvm, I worked with Tubaba. I worked with eight producers on this album. I believe it’s a great album.
How long did he take you to cook an 18-track album?
Two years. Like I told you, I already had the album, but I had to start all over. I had to write new songs.
Why do you always avoid the press? Are you publicity shy?
I love the press. I am not running away from the press. But to create music is a difficult thing, I’m done now so I’m back fully.
Are you a celebrity at home?
I am not a celebrity at home.
What is it that people don’t know about Wande Coal?
Wande is a funny guy. He likes to be happy. He is a lovable person and there is never a dull moment when he is around.
What made you cry when you had a scandal in the early days of your career?
As a human being, the different news stories that come out will affect you. But I feel you have to get up immediately. I don’t care about what has happened. I just learn from my mistakes and make sure I become a better person. I picked up myself and recreated myself.
What would you have done differently?
I wish I had known the things I know now from that time. The way I did it then, I based everything on love, back in those days. I should have put business into it. Everything was based on love and friendship.
So, you are not going to do that again?
I think everything in life teaches you a lesson. You don’t let off your guards.
What is music to you?
Music is everything to me. For example, I wouldn’t be here today without my music. That is what brought me out.
Wizkid and Davido look up to you. Isn’t it?
I love their music, but the only person that I can say we went through a lot together and have major interest in is Wizkid. He has learnt and I think he is a great kid. I love him to death. He is my brother. Davido is doing his own thing. In the game, there is going to be friction at some point. People have to understand that music is competitive.
What about your mixtape with Wizkid?
My mixtape with Wizkid is coming out after this album. He is dropping an EP (Extended Play) and we will work on the mixtape.

Ekiti female senators floor APC at Appeal Court
TWO female Senators representing Ekiti South and Ekiti Central respectively, Mrs. Abiodun Olujimi and Mrs. Fatimat Rasaki have floored challengers from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to retain their seats. The Court of Appeal in Ado Ekiti confirmed their elections, last Thursday.
Chief Anthony Adeniyi of the APC challenged the victory of Mrs. Olujimi, who ran on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the March 28 poll.
Adeniyi wanted Mrs. Olujimi’s election nullified on grounds that she was not qualified to run claiming that she was a member of the National Communications Commission (NCC) board at the time she contested. The appellant also claimed that the senator did not resign her appointment within the time allowed by law.
The APC candidate in Ekiti Central, Gbenga Olofin alleged that the election conducted in the senatorial district was marred by violence, corrupt practices and that Mrs. Rasaki was not validly elected by lawful votes cast at the poll.
Dismissing Olofin’s appeal, the court, in a judgment read by a member of the panel, Justice Chinwe Iyizoba, held that the evidence of the appellant’s witnesses were full of hearsay and could not be relied upon.

Desmond is a kind of man any responsible girl in her right senses won’t let to pass her by. They were limitations, I know but I cared less. He was 10 years older that I was but hardly looked it because of his sporty appearance.
Secondly and most importantly, he was married with kids, still I damned all the consequences. My fellow course mates noticed my unusual attendance to lecture more especially that of Mr. Desmond’s, other courses, I cared less about them because I knew that definitely I will pass them at any cost (monetary not otherwise).
One day, it was like waiting forever to be noticed by this super sexy creature of my lecturer. I had an assignment that I was yet to complete, so I came in earlier enough to do them to avoid any embarrassment from Mr. Desmond whose class we were having the next period.
It was as if my heart was calling out to him, lo and behold, there he was, alone in the lecture with me. Luck smiled on me that day it was my goal accomplishing day. I greeted him with the sexiest smiles I had and rested my hands on his broad chest because I was already standing so close to him.
He was amused and taking aback by my strange reaction. I comported myself immediately and removed my hands from his chest, walk closer and gently whispered into his ears that I will like to see him after the class in his office.
He asked if I was having difficulty with the course, I affirmed by showing him he undone assignment because honestly I had no ounce of idea of how to get the right answers to the most strange questions I’ve ever seen in my entire life, Gosh!
After what seemed like forever to respond to my request, he told me to see him after the class. The two hours he spent in class were the most boring of its kind; he kept repeating one sentence over and over again. I was lost in deep thoughts while staring at him like suckling looking up to her mother for breast milk.
He noticed I was absent minded and asked me a question; it took the intervention of the girl next to me to bring me back to reality.
At last the class was finally over, I quickly rushed to my room, took a quick bath, applied a very seductive perfume, and wore a see-through short gown cover with big, long jacket and set off to his office with my books. He was almost on his way out when I walked in.
He shouted at me for keeping him waiting and asked why I didn’t follow him after the class. Of course the question was met with silence. I quietly closed the window blind and locked the door as he stood there moping at me as if he’s seeing double. I came back and stood in front of him and he asked again, what was that for?
Before he could complete the question, my jacket was already on the floor, I stood there almost na.ked. Yes! I had him under my spell. I knew at this point that he cannot resist me because all of a sudden his voice disappeared. I moved closer and kissed him passionately, My Goodness! his lips tasted like honey.
At this point, he could not hold it any longer, he grabbed my two sumptuous oranges that was pointing at him like arrows waiting to be released on a prey. He squeezed it so hard that I noticed the kind of effect I had on him. In no time, we got down to real business, just exactly as I imagined it.
He was smooth, gentle on the bare floor and the times we spent was so magical that at that spot, I realized that I was in love with my lecturer. Nothing else mattered tome then but to enjoy the sizzling moments with him.
An hour later, we were both dressed up and I was almost at the door when he suddenly found his voice and asked what that was all about, I took my time to narrate the story from the first day he entered into the lecture hall. Apparently he had the same feeling but was trying to thread with caution.
The affair continued secretly till I graduated. It’s been three years since I left the university, got a job, got engaged and getting ready to get married to my supposedly husband. I never regretted my decision to get what I wanted from my lecturer.
I was only following my heart but know the difference between love and obsession. It was much later I realized that I wasn’t really in love with my lecturer rather I was obsessed with him. You might contribute years of your life into someone else’s, only to realize at long last that it was all just an infatuation.

Senate Gives Buhari 2 Weeks Ultimatum To End Fuel Scarcity
This came on the heels of disclosure by the Pipeline Products Marketing Company (PPMC) that Nigeria lost a whopping N50 billion in ten months as a result of vandalisation of petroleum pipeline in some parts of the country.
Chairman of the committee,Senator Uche Ekwenife, who gave the directive,Thursday,in Abuja,during the committee’s meeting with top officials of Ministry of Petroleum Resources,insisted that the petroleum minister must not only end the scarcity but ensure ensure that fuel was sold to the public at government’s controlled price of N87.00 per litre.
Senator Ekwenife,representing Anambra South, on the platform of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party,PDP,frowend at the ongoing fuel crisis,saying Nigerians were suffering untold hardship following the development.
Fuming over what she described as unnecessary fuel crisis, Ekwenife, said:”We are mandating the Minister of Petroleum Resources,the Permanent Secretary and heads of agencies to stop this fuel scarcity in two weeks.
“We are giving a target now,we don’t wan’t to know how you would achieve it.Nigerians want to see an end to this fuel scarcity.

South Africa Threatens To Jail Pastor Chris Oyakhilome
The South African government has threatened to jail Chris Oyakhilome if his church, Christ Embassy, fails to release its financial records According to the South African-based News24 ,Head of South Africa’s Commission for the Promotion and Protection of Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Communities, Thoko Mkhwanazi-Xaluva, has accused Oyakhilome and heads of some churches of failing to disclose monies received from members.She said
“Some of these religious leaders will face prison if they do not comply and we have been clear about our course of action,”
Mkhwanazi-Xaluva reportedly said Oyakhilome had indicated that he would fight the commission in court before making his records public.
“If he intends on that route, we are ready. He will have to face the same fate as the others who refuse to hand over their financial records.
“These people take money from people. What are they doing with that money? We want to know. We will not back down. Some religious leaders have also threatened the commission, which is leading us toward the legal route. Saps have been notified already. We are forced to take the legal route because some of them are not complying and we cannot be held to ransom by a few,” she said.
A South African pastor, Paseka Motsoeneng, (popularly known as Mboro), the head of Incredible Happenings Church, told the commission he would rather go to jail than hand over his financial records.His churchis known in the country for his healings and miracles.
“Now the headlines will be saying Mboro has R10 million in his account…. I have enemies. Now they will know my strength and weakness… I want to protect myself, my church and my ministry so I have to look and consult thoroughly with my lawyers,
“For my belief, I will be glad to go to jail. Even now, I can be taken there.”

One of the Nigerians deported from the United Kingdom on November 25, Wednesday, has narrated his story to Detained Voices.
The United Kingdom has deported 50 Nigerians after having committed different offences while in the country. The deportees, made of 44 males and six females arrived into Nigeria aboard a chartered B767 aircraft belonging to PITAN Airways.
The federal government had recently expressed concern over the UK’s plan to deport some 29,000 of its nationals demanding that due process be followed before any Nigerian is sent back from the UK.

“Basically, the charter flight is for today and they’re trying to get us on the flight. But here lies the problem.“We all know very well, according to the rules anyway, if they want to take us they have to get travel documents for all of us. But then they have already issued travel certificates for everybody without anybody actually signing for it. How does that work?“Obviously there have been allegations this week against the home office and against the Nigerian embassy about, you know bribary, to make sure she issues travel documents for people without their knowledge, you understand what I mean.“According to the information we are getting, each person gets £3000. Basically, all of us have been sold to the British Government to do whatever they wants to do to us. We’ve been very calm. We’ve asked them can you get the home office to explain how they’ve got travel documents for us when we didn’t sign for it. Obviously that’s fraud because I haven’t signed for anything.
“How are we supposed to follow the rules and regulation when those rules and regulations of the Home Office clearly doesn’t apply to them. They actually break the law on a regular basis. They bribe people on a regular basis.
“Half of the people on the flight today have family here. They shouldn’t be going to Nigeria in the first place. I left Nigeria 17 years ago, right, I was 9 years old when I left Nigeria. I had only really lived in Nigeria for 6 years. And you are telling me it’s okay you can go back there. To where? My dad passed away last month. Who am I going back to?
“Who am I going back to? My sisters here, my brothers here. My niece has very big health problems. She’s got heart issues. They’re in London. She needs help on a regular basis. My sister cannot handle it. We are just sat in the room basically. We are waiting for the officers to forcefully remove us. We are just in the room waiting. Because at the end of the day, they haven’t answered our questions.”
